Rinse the Rice:
Wash the jasmine rice under cold water 2–3 times until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch.
Soak (Optional):
Soak the rice for 15–20 minutes for better texture. Drain before cooking.
Boil Water:
In a saucepan, bring 1.5 cups of water to a boil.
Add Rice:
Add the rice, salt, and oil/butter (if using). Stir once gently.
Cook:
Cover with a lid, reduce heat to low, and let it simmer for 12–15 minutes until water is absorbed.
Rest:
Turn off the heat and let the rice sit covered for 5 minutes.
Fluff & Serve:
Gently fluff with a fork and serve hot.
